Dear International Students, this year HUISA would like to continue a good tradition and give a chance to more students participate in the International Food festival. We will have a photo exhibition to let the visitors know more about the world and our countries.
If you were not gifted with cooking skills this year again you have a chance to introduce your country through the pictures!

What pictures do we look for?
First of all, pictures which can represent your own country – since no one know it better than you. It doesn’t have to be picture of any famous place. It can be pictures of people, food or anything you which may show unknown sides of your home to the visitors. It may be also pictures taken in Japan, if you think that place, people or event are somehow connected to your country.
This year, following frequent requests we will also accept pictures made in Japan. If you have some original picture you made during your stay at Japan and you think they may be interesting to the visitors of IFF please send it to us.

*The pictures participated in the exhibition last year you can see on the wall in the ISC activities room.

Note(1): we will not accept pictures which contains violence, political agitation, may be offensive to other countries.
Note(2): Pictures should be taken by the participant himself.

Who can apply? - International Students of Hokkaido University and members of their family.

Send e-mail to HUISA.photocontest2012 gmail.com with title “photo-contest 2012_name of the country_name”.

Please write following in your e-mail:

* Name and reading of the name if it is in kanji
* Country (Tent name if you are a representative of tent)
* Your faculty
* Contact e-mail
* Contact phone
* Short description for the image in English and/or Japanese (up to 10 words)

Please write “country_name_number 1 or 2” in the title of the photo file.

One student can submit total up to 2 pictures. However, no more than 1 picture of Japan. Also, in case there are too many applicants the number of pictures from one student to be exhibited may be reduced to 1. If you are submitting 2 photos please mark with “1” the photo you want to be exhibited for sure and the “2” the complementary one. If photos are not marked, we keep the right to decide the main photo by ourselves.
We are planning to exhibit up to 50 photos.

Important: pictures size

We are planning to print the pictures in one of the following formats:
1)DSLR camera proportions:
２ＬWサイズ approximately 127×192
六切ワイドサイズ approximately 203×305
2)Digital camera (small)
２ＬDサイズ approximately 127×169
3) Film camera proportions:
２ＬGサイズ approximately 127×178

Other formats:
六切サイズ 203×254-
四切サイズ 254×305
四切ワイドサイズ 254×365

If the quality of your picture allows, we would prefer to print it in the larger format. Please make sure that your picture have one of the proportions above, otherwise it may be framed what will destroy the balance of the shot.

Photos will be exhibited in special tent next to HUISA headquarters from 10.00 to 19.00 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and until 13.00 on Sunday.

To make the event more fun this year we will again have visitors vote for the best picture – winners will receive small omiyage from HUISA
For deciding the winner votes will be accepted during working hours until the Saturday, 17.00.

All photos will be published to HUISA homepage after the festival.
